ABG partners with EU and UNOPS to deliver state-of-the-art Government Data Centre

The Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) in partnership with the European Union and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), this week marked the official handover of the upgraded government data centre to the ABG.
This is a $USD 1.8million ICT project which will also see the New Power System arriving early next year.
This state-of-the-art facility, equipped with modern ICT equipment, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the public financial management and service delivery across the region.
The upgraded data center will serve as the digital hub for the government improving data security management and connectivity for core government functions allowing departments to manage public resources effectively and deliver essential services to the people of Bougainville with greater efficiency and transparency.
This data center is a key component of a larger initiative aimed at strengthening the ABGs institutional capacity. The broader project includes the provision of new ICT equipment for thirteen government departments and the installation of sustainable solar power systems in seven departments.
The solar energy component ensures a stable power source for the new technology.
“We are honoured to have provided the technical expertise to deliver this facility for the ABG and its people”, said UNOPS Country Manager Sirpa Jarvenpaa.
