OBEC launches SMS service to help voters confirm enrolment and find where to vote

The Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner (OBEC) has launched an SMS Roll Verification and Polling Place Lookup Service to help voters confirm their enrolment and find their assigned Polling Place for the 2025 ABG General Election.
This SMS service will be available from Monday 4th August to Friday 30th August, operating from 9:00am to 5:00pm (BST) on business days.
This service is in addition to the Preliminary Electoral Roll that will be displayed in every Ward.
“We encourage every eligible voter to SMS this service to check that they are included on the Electoral Roll, and to confirm their correct Polling Place for Election Day,” said Bougainville Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Desmond Tsianai.
“This is an easy and accessible way to verify your details on the Electoral Roll and avoid confusion on Election Day,” he said.
How to Use the SMS Service:
Text either 8212 0336 or 7483 5592 with your:
- First Name and Last Name
- Constituency and Ward
- Date of birth (at least year of birth as a minimum)
You will receive a reply confirming whether your name is on the Electoral Roll and the Polling Place, Ward, and Constituency where you are enrolled to vote. Under law, no new enrolments can be accepted following the Issue of Writs, which took place on the 7th of July this year.
To ensure no one is left out, OBEC will also be sending an SMS blast to voters across Bougainville encouraging them to check their enrolment details via this SMS service.
OBEC encourages voters to share this message with family, friends, and neighbours.
