ABG advances cooperation with PNG National Trade Office and NASFUND

The ABG Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Industry, and Economic Development is pleased to announce significant progress in its journey towards bolstering trade and investment capacities in the region.
Following successful engagements with the National Trade Office of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and NASFUND, ABG has signed essential Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to pave the way for cooperative efforts.
The first milestone was achieved through the signing of a MoU between ABG Commerce and the National Trade Office of PNG. This collaborative agreement aims to foster strong working relationships and facilitate staff capacity building in preparation for the assumption of powers related to Trade and Investment.
Key components of this arrangement include comprehensive in-house training, job attachments, trade missions, trade negotiations, expeditions, trade promotion, and engaging in trade-related meetings and consultations.
These powers and functions play a pivotal role in propelling Bougainville's economy forward and are crucial for the effective implementation of laws and regulations concerning Trade and Investment. As Bougainville strides towards independence-readiness, building robust capacities in these areas becomes imperative.
Furthermore, ABG, through its commercial business arm, the Bougainville Public Investment Corporation Limited, has also forged a significant partnership with NASFUND, a leading superannuation group in the country. This momentous agreement, formalized through a MoU, sets the stage for exploratory discussions on diverse investment opportunities within Bougainville.
Among the areas of interest are property development, hotel and resorts ventures, equity financing prospects, and other business proposals presented by ABG through its commercial business arm. By fostering these investment opportunities, ABG aims to create a favorable business environment and stimulate economic growth within the region.
These are progressive steps taken by the ABG in collaboration with the National Trade Office of PNG and NASFUND. These partnerships will undoubtedly strengthen Bougainville's economic landscape and promote sustainable development.
The ABG remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering growth, encouraging investments, and empowering its people as it progresses independence-readiness efforts.
