Agreement for missing person’s project extends to Bougainville
The Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation (NCFR) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the implementation of a Psychosocial support programme for the families of persons who went missing as a consequence of the Bougainville Conflict.
The agreement states that the programme will be co-designed under the auspices of the Office of Missing Persons of Bougainville by the three stakeholders, with the ICRC providing technical support for the programme establishment, the NCfR implementing the programme at family and community levels, and the ABG having overall responsibility for the programme being delivered in an efficient manner .
According to Director of NCfR, Sister Lorraine Garasu said that this was the first time ABG had signed an MoU with NCfR.
The Head of ICRC Mission in Papua New Guinea (PNG), Mr. Georgias Georgrantas, Secretary for Department of Bougainville Independence Mission Implementation Ms Stephanie Elizah and NCfR Director Sister Lorraine Garasu signed the agreement today at the centre at Chabai, Buka.
