BEC appoints Kearnneth Nanei as Acting Chief Secretary
The Bougainville Executive Council has appointed the ABG’s Principal Legal Advisor and Secretary for the Department of Law and Justice, Kearneth Nanei as Acting Chief Secretary to the Government.
Mr. Nanei's appointment follows the resignation of incumbent Chief Secretary Shadrach Himata on Tuesday.
Mr. Nanei who is from Buin, South Bougainville has the distinction of being the ABG's longest serving departmental head since assuming the role of Secretary for the Department of Law and Justice and Principal Legal Advisor in 2014.
Mr. Nanei’s appointment will be for a six month period before it is renewed by the Bougainville Executive Council.
Ms. Julie Sapaka who is the Corporate Services Manager for the Department of Law and Justice will assume the role of Acting Secretary for the Department while Mr. Nanei retains his role as Principal Legal Advisor to the Autonomous Bougainville Government.
