Bougainville Foundation Day Celebrations Set for June 17, 2024
The Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) is pleased to announce the upcoming Bougainville Foundation Day celebrations, scheduled for Monday, June 17th, 2024.
The celebrations will be held across Buka, Arawa, and Buin towns, marking the 19th year since the ABG was established on June 15, 2005.
Bougainville Foundation Day is a gazetted public holiday dedicated to commemorating this significant milestone in Bougainville's political history.
This year's celebrations are hosted under the theme, “Embracing our past, celebrate the present and move forward for independence,” reflecting on our significant journey, celebrating our present achievements and acknowledging our challenges, and looking forward to a bright and independent future.
In Buka, the ABG Acting President Hon. Robin Wilson will preside over the day's program. Other ABG leaders will represent the government in Arawa and Buin to ensure widespread participation and celebration throughout Bougainville.
The ABG invites everyone, including schools, business houses, NGOs, and churches, to join us in these celebrations and honor our shared history and future aspirations.
